me.
i'm brooke. a short, fatish, bisexual, feminist, pacifist, very-liberal activist. i have 4 cats. and 2 computers, 2 kayaks, 1 masters degree, multiple backpacks, and way too many books. i live in the most beautiful eugene, oregon. i'm currently disabled due to treatment resistant severe depression. i've been blogging since election day of 2000. i'm born and raised in the mountains of southwestern virginia. i could join the daughters of the american revolution, i don't think they'd like me cause i hear they like to throw tea parties instead of rallies and revolutions.

heat wave in eugene. heat wave means days of degrees in the high 80's. i have soooo become assimilated to this environment. 4 cats and i took a 2 hour nap because of the heat.

i'm now volunteering 6 hours a week at oregon public network helping in their community technology center. only bad thing is parking. lots of change i'll be needing for the parking meters.

the article in the register guard i'm not thrilled about. debating about whether to go to the speakers training thing tommorrow.. 9-2. but i've still got to clean out the fridge, tidy the bathroom and do the dishes. doesn't sound like a lot, but it is for me. plus i've got to hunt down sheets for dad's bed.

reading prodigal summer, by barbara kingsolver. its an excellent book. i picked it up because it takes place in the mountains of southwestern virginia, the mountains where i was born and raised, the mountains through which the new river flows, the new river that my cat maxthenew river is named after-- he actually answers when i call him "new." the three love stories intertwine in such an interesting way. highly recommended.
